Spiraling Gas Prices Force Trade Show Exhibitors to Cut the Fat
01/08/2009 - By Admin

Fuel surcharge fees are increasing the cost of shipping a trade show display booth by 30-50%. Overnight cross-country air freight for a 100 lb portable pop-up display now costs as much as $552.00. Of this, $135.00 (or 32%) is a fuel surcharge fee instituted by carriers like FedEx and UPS.

"For clients that frequently exhibit, this added expense cuts into their ROI and undermines the value of trade shows as a business development strategy." says David Lapidus, CEO of www.rainmakerdisplay.com.

Rather than recommend that his clients reduce the number of trade show events they participate in, Lapidus advises clients to lower their display weight by replacing older heavier trade show booths with lightweight portable trade show displays.

The latest portable display technology employs a number of key features to reduce weight and bulk. These include: printed fabric graphics instead of laminated or hard panel signage, retractable banner stands that roll into a floor base, and shipping cases that double as display counters. More sophisticated requirements such as video monitor and product display integration can now be achieved at a significantly lower weight than ever before.

"Our job is to cut the display booth fat, without reducing marketing impact." says Lapidus. From feedback Rainmaker Display regularly receives from clients, their exhibit weight-reduction strategy has garnered a very warm reception.

For a FREE evaluation of your current trade show exhibit program and a proposal on ways to reduce weight, contact the company at 212-279-6240 x205.

ABOUT RAINMAKER DISPLAY

Founded in 2001 by David Lapidus, Rainmaker Display Inc. was an early pioneer in web-based marketing of portable displays for trade show exhibitors, recruiters and sales reps. Through their web site, www.rainmakerdisplay.com, the company distributes portable displays that incorporate large-format graphics, lighting and counters.

Most displays carry a lifetime warranty, require minimal assembly, and are UPS-able.

To reach a wider audience, the company has recently expanded to include in-store displays, outdoor displays, as well as signage for lobbies and showrooms.
